Quickstart Character Motivations

As tabletop gaming has made its recent shift to online play, one shots and funnel adventures seem to have been quite popular recently. While many modules give a solid universal motivations for the adventurers’ path, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s useful to ground the characters further with some personal explanation for why they have ended up in what is often quite a perilous position (this is especially true for DCC funnels!). To that end I’ve created a table for generating additional character motivations on the fly, which you can download at your leisure below.

The article is essentially system agnostic and quite free form, although rules short suggestions are included for DCC.
